CORE Desktop Provides Waterford Public Library a
Centralized Computing Solution
Milwaukee, WI – November 6, 2007-
CORE Desktop has recently completed a public thin client
computing solution for Waterford Public Library in the
Village of Waterford, Wisconsin. Some of the services that
CORE Desktop provided to make WPL’s computing system more
effective was to re-image their Neoware thin client devices
to create a standard Windows XPe environment, deploy a 2x
Application Server to stream applications like Microsoft
Office to the terminal desktops, reconfigure and standardize
printing, and implement write filtering in order to protect
the thin clients from changes, viruses, or malicious
attacks.
CORE Desktop also deployed a solution
enabling monitoring of print usage by clients, physical USB
login to workstations to prevent unauthorized access and
force proper logoff of computer users, and implementing a
proxy solution to track Internet and file usage.
“Waterford Public
Library has been very pleased since CORE Desktop assumed
responsibility for the implementation of the Public Access
Terminal Server and the accompanying thin-client
workstations. We feel that this arrangement has been
beneficial to both the library and our patrons,” stated
Andrea DeGroat, Waterford Public Library’s Technical
Director. |
