Waterford Public
LibraryThe village of Waterford,
Wisconsin recently came to us looking for assistance with their
library's public computer environment.
Waterford Public Library was looking for an easy
to maintain solution to provide Internet as well as light computing
applications to their patrons. A local benefactor provided WPL with
a gift of 13 Neoware e90 thin client workstations running Windows
XPe.
CORE Desktop arrived to find a rather poor
implementation of the technology. We re-imaged the devices to create
a standard environment, deployed 2x Application Server to stream
applications like Microsoft Office to the terminal desktops,
reconfigured and standardized printing, and enabled write filtering
in order to protect the thin clients from changes, viruses, or
malicious attacks.
We also deployed a solution enabling monitoring of
print usage by clients, physical USB login to workstations to
prevent unauthorized access and force proper logoff of computer
users, and are implementing a proxy solution to track Internet and
file usage. |
